KARACHI- A high level delegation of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) recently held a meeting, where they met with Federal Minister for National Health Services Regulations and Coordination, Mr Aamer Mehmood Kiani.
The PMA’s delegation was comprised of President PMA Centre Dr Muhammad Ashraf Nizami, Former President Dr Azhar Khan Jadoon, Secretary General PMA Centre Dr SM Qaisar Sajjad, President PMA Punjab Dr Izhar Ahmed Chaudhry, President PMA Lahore Dr Ajmal Hassan Naqvi, Senior Member PMA Dr Mian Rasheed.
All members came together and demanded for a fresh election of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) on an urgent basis, after laying down all the issues of PMDC in front of Mr Aamer Kiani.
Moreover, issues regarding the current health delivery system were duly discussed.
On PMA’s request, Federal Health Minister assured that a draft for the Presidential ordinance for PMDC is under preparation and will soon be promulgated, and their request of making PMDC an independent, autonomous and transparent body will soon be looked into.
Furthermore, Mr Aamer Mehmood Kiani informed the PMA delegation regarding the plan of countrywide issuance of health insurance cards, in order to help the needy people of Pakistan.
He showed interest in calling on board a representative of PMA, to join his task force.
At the end of the meeting, it was decided to maintain constant coordination in the future, between the Federal Health Ministry and PMA.
