KARACHI- Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Accident, Emergency and Trauma Centre’s staff staged a protest demonstration outside Karachi Press Club (KPC), in order to appeal for the regularization of their posts and release of salaries.
The Provincial Nursing Association’s (PNA) representatives also participated in the sit-in, to show their support. The protesters carried banners and placards inscribed with different slogans voicing out their rightful demands. All of paramedical staff, nurses, ward boys, technicians, computer operators and other lower staff, claimed of no regularization of their posts, despite the passage of two years. They also claimed negligence by the authorities in sanctioning their salaries, from past eight months, due to which the staff has been facing financial problems and hardships.
SMBB’s administration disclosed that, Sindh Assembly passed a resolution to regularize doctors but, nurses and other support staff are still said to be working on contract basis.
General Secretary, Provincial Nurses Association (PNA), Sindh, Atta Hussain Rajpar demanded of the Government of Sindh to regularize the nurses and other support staff on their posts. He added that, funds for salaries should be released on an immediate basis, otherwise protest demonstrations would continue throughout the province of Sindh.
