HYDERABAD: The district health officer (DHO) has confirmed a potential case of the newly identified JN.1 variant of Covid-19 surfacing in Hyderabad.
The DHO says health teams have collected blood samples from a man suspected of contracting the virus during his recent trip to Bangkok.
The suspect patient, Munawar, has been placed in isolation at his residence in Qasimabad, pending the results of the conducted tests.
This development follows earlier reports from the Sindh health department, revealing that two individuals arriving at Karachi airport tested positive for the new variant JN.1, a sub-variant of Omicron.
The health authorities continue to monitor and investigate the situation to curb the potential spread of the variant in the region.
