NICH receives flak over promotion of blue-eyed staff

KARACHI: According to sources at NICH, the National Institute of Child Health (NICH) management has promoted its favorite employees to higher grades by violating the Sindh and Federal government promotion rules.

The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting was held on January 9^th, 2019, to promote different categories of staff in higher grades including MRI technician, Assistant, Upper Division Clerk, Lower Division Clerk and others.

The incumbent of administration of the institution had also conducted a competency test to ensure merit in the promotion of staff to the successive grades but later promoted blue-eyed people to a higher rank thereby violating the Sindh and Federal government rules.

The NICH management managed to bypass the merit and the result of the competency test to award promotion of their favorites.  The uncertainty prevailed in senior employees over the promotions of junior staff against the rules as well as merit.

Some employees also lodged written complaints to the Director of National Institute of Child Health (NICH), Prof Dr Jamal Raza regarding the matter of staff promotion without merit and dema nded a recall DPC meeting to ensure merit.

The Director of NICH, Prof Dr Jamal Raza was not available to make any comments.
