KARACHI- Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority (SBTA) administration has decided to train the inspectors and other officials to strictly enforcement of blood banks monitoring policy, ensuring screening as per international standard and also to make sure safe blood transfusion across the Sindh province.
Provincial Program Manager & Secretary Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority (SBTA) Dr Zahid Hasan Ansari told the media here that; performance of blood banks was much better in the province but efforts were underway to bring further improvement in overall system. He said “We are trying our level best and also making sure to bring level of blood screening or transfusion as per new instructions of World Health Organization (WHO).”
In this connection, Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority management has decided to organize training workshops for district level designated inspectors (District Officer Preventive Health), lab technicians and pathologists, he explained. He said training workshops will be held in Karachi and Sukkur with assistance of German’s health department in February. He said about 30 participants expected to attend each workshop where three-member team of Germans experts will deliver lectures.
Dr Ansari said experts will brief the participants about new guideline issued by World Health Organization (WHO) about safe blood transfusion like; manuals & instructions, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), donor selection, screening and other important information to enhance performance of blood banks .
He said basic aim of organizing the training workshops to strictly implementation on monitoring of blood banks and ensuring blood screening or transfusion throughout the province as per international standard.
