KARACHI- The Dow University of Health Sciences was recently visited by a four-member delegation of Sultan Zainal Abidin University of Malaysia. The group of academicians was headed by Vice Chancellor - Professor Datuk Dr. Yahaya Bin Ibrahim. The visit is a part of their initiative for future academic collaborations.
According to media reports; The visit was aimed at exploring opportunities to have collaboration with special emphasis on areas such as health and research. The delegation was received by Prof. Masood Hameed Khan, Vice Chancellor, Prof. M. Umar Farooq, Pro- Vice Chancellor and Prof. Shaikh Nadeem Ahmed, Registrar.
Prof. Dr. Masood Hameed Khan briefed the delegation about the history and establishments of Dow University and the progress it has made over the years. The delegation was also briefed about University’s different undergraduates and postgraduates programs and healthcare service programs. He also briefed the delegation about the envisaged projects which the University had undertaken and about to initiate in collaboration with the other different institutions.
Later on, the Delegation took an extensive round of the Dow University and its constituent institutions including Dow Medical College and Ojha Campus. They also visit different departments, laboratories besides surgical and medical units, professional development centre, quality enhancement cell and computerized IT Department. During the visit the Delegation also met with Professors and senior faculty members of the University.
Professor Datuk Dr. Yahaya Bin Ibrahim, in his brief comments, appreciated the measures being taken for the elevation of the University with the hope that it would go a long way in context of teaching, learning and research programs. The delegation appreciated the efforts of Dow University’s Vice Chancellor - Prof. Masood Hameed Khan in bringing up the University at par with the international standards. He also hoped to have academic collaborations with Pakistani institutions in future.
In the end, Prof. Dr. Masood Hameed Khan presented DUHS memento to the members of Sultan Zainal Abidin University, Malaysia.
