LAHORE: The vehicle used in the murder of a hospital owner, Dr. Shahid Siddique, in Lahore, has been recovered, announced police, adding that it was rented and carried a fake number plate at the time of the crime.

The police investigations also revealed that after shooting the victim, the killers fled the scene, and replaced the fake plate with the vehicle’s original number plate to doge investigators.

Dr. Shahid Siddique, the owner of Iqra Medical Complex in Johar Town, was tragically killed in Lahore's Valencia Town area after Friday prayers on August 2.

The case took a shocking turn when his son, Qayyum Shahid, confessed to orchestrating the murder. Qayyum admitted to hiring hit men to kill his father due to the latter’s refusal to allow him to marry a girl of his own choice.

Initially, Qayyum arranged a 5 million rupee contract for the murder of his father, but the first attempt on his life in January failed. He then paid an additional Rs20 million for a second attempt, which also did not succeed. In a further disturbing twist, Qayyum led his father's funeral prayers after the murder to deceive the police.

Earlier this week, police identified three suspects connected to the crime, all of whom are related. The rented vehicle was registered under the name of Shehnaaz, the mother of the prime suspect, Shehryar.

Police investigations found that Shehnaaz’s husband, Sajjad, had asked for the vehicle, and one of her nephews subsequently delivered it to him.
