Dahar vows to eradicate dengue larva

KARACHI- Sindh government is committed to eradicate dengue and malaria larvae from cross the province and a massive campaign in this regard is currently under way in Karachi while a similar drive will be launched in other parts of the province shortly.

This was stated by Sindh Health Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar during a briefing session held in connection with larvae survey and larvacidal activities in Karachi.

Speaking on the occasion, Dengue Control Programme’s Manager Dr Masood Solangi told the minister that 16 major parks and more than 52 vulcanizing shops have already been covered under the ongoing fumigation campaign in the city.

He also informed that 11 cases of dengue were reported during last week in Karachi, while not a single case of the disease was detected in other districts of the province.

Expressing satisfaction about the campaign, the minister directed managers of Dengue and Malaria control programmes to further expedite the drive against dengue and malaria larvae.

Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent of Services Hospital Karachi Dr. Khalid Shaikh informed the minister that a heat wave ward had been set up at the health facility.
