LAHORE: Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Chief Minister of Punjab, issued an order to guarantee that the strategy to eliminate pollution in other cities, including Lahore, is effectively implemented.
CM Pervaiz Elahi ordered the provincial government in London to take measures against the causes of pollution. He guided the field's Environment Protection, Transport, and administrative authorities. He said no laxity regarding implementing the SOPs given to eliminate pollution would be accepted.
He said that pollution had been designated a catastrophe to safeguard human life, and a prohibition on burning agricultural waste had been enacted. He ordered indiscriminate action against anyone who continued to burn agricultural residue, notwithstanding the ban.
CM Pervaiz Elahi ordered legal action against smoke-emitting cars, adding that the anti-smog squad should inspect smoke-emitting vehicles and act indiscriminately against smoke-emitting vehicles above the specified limit.
He instructed the anti-smog team to conduct thorough vehicle inspections at the city's access ports in Lahore. CM Pervaiz Elahi asked the relevant agencies and the government to raise public awareness about the need for prompt tuning of their smoke-emitting cars.
