IBA Sukkur to conduct Sindh MDCAT on December 1 following paper leak scandal

KARACHI: The Sindh Health Department has enlisted the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Sukkur to conduct the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) retake, scheduled for December 1. The decision follows a Sindh High Court ruling which dismissed two petitions challenging the MDCAT retake. This retake has been mandated after allegations of paper leaks and widespread irregularities tainted the initial exam, previously conducted by Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS). The Sindh Health Department’s move has stirred some debate among stakeholders, as similar concerns surfaced across other provinces.

IBA Sukkur, in preparation for the exam, has formally requested that the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) reduce the multiple-choice answer options from five to four—a procedural standard already applied in other departmental exams conducted by IBA Sukkur. In response, the PMDC appointed Imdad Kushk as its examinations moderator, while the Sindh Health Department designated Zohaib Hassan Sheikh as the focal person to oversee the examination process.

The PMDC's renewed scrutiny of the MDCAT process reflects broader efforts to enforce uniformity and fairness in admission tests nationwide. As tensions ease following the court’s approval, the focus now shifts to ensuring a transparent and smooth examination experience for medical aspirants in Sindh.
