MNA expresses concern over alarming maternal, neonatal health stats

Karachi: PPP leader, Senator Dr Sikandar Ali Mandhro, expressed grave concern regarding maternal and neonatal health statistics which are alarmingly high in Pakistan and need immediate attention.

He said this while at the 14th lamp lighting ceremony held at the Kharadar General Hospital.

Chief Guest, Senator, Dr Sikandar Ali Mandhro, acknowledged the 100 years of service of this hospital and said that its well-equipped and well-structured department of nursing is a blessing for the inhabitants of Lyari as well as adjacent communities.

He said that maternal and neonatal health statistics are very shocking and need to be immediately addressed.

President, Kharadar General Hospital, and renowned industrialist, Mohammad Bashir Janmohammad, said that performing duties with humanity, respect, kindness and virtue can enhance the provision of services of the Nursing Department. A professional attitude coupled with knowledge on the latest in the world of technology can address the shortcomings of the health system.

Hospital Management Committee, Chairman, Prof Billoo said that in order to address the shortage of nurses we need to continue the Diploma of General Nursing Program.

Hospital CEO, Dr Khalid Iqbal, appreciated the efforts of the nurses and stated that nurses are serving as healers for the society; always there to take care of all cuts and bruises.

In conclusion, laptops and certificates were distributed to the position holders.

Principal, School of Nursing, Ms Talat Perveen Shah, also spoke at the occasion.
