Karachi faces tetanus injection shortage

KARACHI: Patients are facing shortage of tetanus injections, according to Abdul Samad Badhani, Senior Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Chemist and Druggist Association (PCDA).
Speaking to journalists, Badhani explained that the shortage has been caused by the unavailability of raw materials in the global market, which has halted the production of tetanus injections.
He noted that some shopkeepers are exploiting the situation by selling the injections at exorbitant prices, with 5ml injections originally priced at Rs50-55 being sold at ten times higher rates.
Badhani mentioned that pharmaceutical companies have resolved the production issues and assured that tetanus injections will soon be available in the market.
