KARACHI- Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority’s (SBTA) secretary Dr Zahid Hussain Ansari has underscored the need for promoting voluntary blood donation so that country could meet its actual requirement of blood.
Speaking at a seminar held under the aegis of SBTA to mark World Blood Donor Day at a local hotel, he advised people to donate blood only to registered blood banks to avoid spread of diseases.
Though, at present, only seven per cent people donate blood voluntary in the country, there is a dire need to increase voluntary blood donation at least up to 12pc, he opined.
Dr Sarfraz Jaffari, Dr Shabbir, Dr Natasha Ali, Dr Saima Arshad, Dr Hina Rehan, et al. also spoke on this occasion.
The seminar concluded with the distribution of commendation certificates among voluntary blood donors.
