KARACHI: The Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) has canceled 18 medical admissions after confirming that the candidates held dual domiciles, violating Sindh’s admission policies.
The DUHS administration formally communicated the issue to the Secretary of Health, raising concerns over double domicile cases in medical universities across Sindh. According to the letter, the admissions were revoked following a verification process that confirmed discrepancies. The university emphasized that its admission policy strictly follows merit, and any violations are dealt with accordingly.
Health department officials confirmed the receipt of DUHS's letter, sources revealed. The letter referenced September 3 as the date linked to the dual domicile issue, while the first week of September was initially designated for submitting admission forms.
Following candidate interviews, DUHS proceeded with the cancellations, with a majority of affected students belonging to Karachi East. The university reiterated that all admissions are governed by Sindh government policies and merit-based provisions.
Furthermore, sources disclosed that Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences (LUMHS) in Jamshoro has also halted five admissions for similar dual domicile concerns, reinforcing the ongoing crackdown on fraudulent applications.
