ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services approved "The Allied Health Professionals Council Bill 2021" on a conditional basis with a majority of votes.
The Senate Standing Committee on Health, which met here under the chairmanship of Senator Dr Muhammad Humayun Mohmand, passed the Allied Health Professionals Council Bill, 2021 with a majority vote on the condition that five points be amended in the bill. The bill was moved on behalf of Babar Awan, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Parliamentary Affairs.
According to Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health, the bill aims to establish a regulatory council for streamlining professionals' curriculum, training, and practice. Establishing the Pakistan Allied Health Professionals and Paramedics Council will assist qualified and trained professionals in providing quality health services on par with international standards by bringing about uniformity in fundamentals and higher qualifications.
All certified allied health professionals will be registered under the law, which protects their rights and provides for the resolution of complaints/grievances.
