KARACHI- In collaboration with Omair Sana Foundation (OSF), Sindh Police recently organized a Blood Donation Camp at Police Headquarter Saudabad.
DIG East, Aamir Farooqui, SSP, Dr Qamar Rizvi, IGP, Sindh, Dr Kaleem Imam, General Secretary OSF, Dr Saqib Hussain Ansari, Dr Rahat Hussain and others were also present at this occasion.
The donation camp was inaugurated by DIG East, Aamir Farooqui, where he alongside other police officers donated blood.
Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh, Dr Kaleem Imam stressed upon the need of coordinated efforts to eliminate Thalassaemia from our society.
He appreciated the East Zone Police for organizing the blood donation camp and emphasized upon creating public awareness regarding this hematological condition.
Furthermore, IGP Dr Kaleem added that, Sindh Police will be holding blood donation camps across the province of Sindh, to minimize the miseries of children suffering from Thalassemia. He then urged the all the stakeholders, from different walks of life, to come forward and support this cause.
General Secretary, Omair Sana Foundation (OSF), Dr Saqib Ansari added that, Thalassaemia is spreading in Pakistan at an alarming rate, which should immediately be taken under consideration by the authorities.
Blood testing to rule out Thalassemia should be made mandatory for couples before getting married.
Dr Saqib also reached out to the Government of Sindh to ensure implementation of laws regarding Thalassaemia testing before marriage; and also provide diagnostic facilities for such patients at Government Hospitals.
