KARACHI - Al-Khidmat, Karachi, a charity wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, has launched a fumigation campaign to protect the citizens from a possible outbreak of dengue viral disease.
The campaign initiated from the North Nazimabad would also be launched in other parts of the metropolis in different phases.
Inaugurating the campaign, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Karachi chapter chief, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, said that though it was the responsibility of the government to launch fumigation campaigns, Al-Khidmat had to take the initiative as the government failed to do so.
Accusing the government and bureaucracy of only taking cosmetic measures and doing lip service for the resolution of problems being faced by Karachiites, he said that one could see overflowing gutters and heaps of garbage in every nook and cranny of the metropolis.
He said that now it was the responsibility of masses to support and vote for the people like former city mayor Niamatullah Khan in whose tenure the citizens witnessed various development activities in the metropolis.
General Secretary of Al-Khidmat, Karachi, Engr. Abdul Aziz, was also present at the inaugural ceremony of fumigation campaign.
