ISLAMABAD: Islamabad deputy commissioner inaugurated a five-day anti-polio vaccination campaign in the federal capital, targeting 421,455 children under five years of age.
DC Irfan Nawaz Memon opened the drive by administering the first polio vaccine dose to a child during a ceremony held to launch the campaign, says a spokesman for the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration.
Under the campaign, polio teams will be conducting door-to-door visits in the city from 9th to 13th September, while two additional days have been marked for covering the children who missed the vaccination.
A preparatory meeting, chaired by the DC, was held prior to the launch, also attended by the district health officer (DHO) and additional deputy commissioner (ADC) East, reviewing the campaign's plans and security measures.
The DC urged citizens to ensure their children are vaccinated as part of the city's ongoing efforts to eradicate polio.
