Lahore: Doctors working at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital have been deprived of their Health Professional Allowance which was approved and issued in January, 2013.

The notification issued on Jan 01,2013,  it was ordered to give doctors and professors falling in  BPS:17 - 20  a raise of Rs.1200 on account of Health Professional Allowance  with retrospective effect however almost 750 doctors working there have yet to receive their allowance.

It is most surprising that many doctors of the hospital were not even aware of this raise in their allowance as they were being paid the same amount of Rs.15,000 for BPS 17 and Rs.10,000 for the above grades respectively.

After a lapse of six months practice the above mentioned raise was added in the health professional allowance. While this allowance was being given in other hospitals including Punjab Institute of Mental Health from the beginning of January, 2013.  It is important to find out where this unpaid amount has gone when it has not been paid to the doctors and the figure will run into millions.

The hospital when contacted, the Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr. Umer Farooque expressed unawareness about the whole matter and vowed to investigate the matter, however it is reliably learnt that nothing has been done so far in this regard.
