LRBT promotes child eye health awareness on World Sight Day

KARACHI: This World Sight Day, the Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust (LRBT), Pakistan’s largest provider of eye care, is leading efforts to raise awareness about child eye health. In alignment with this year’s theme, "Prioritizing Child Eye Health," LRBT engaged schoolchildren to highlight the importance of early detection, prevention, and maintaining healthy vision from a young age.

As part of its community outreach initiative, LRBT organized a series of interactive and educational activities aimed at promoting eye health among students. These included workshops where children learned about the significance of regular eye check-ups, practical tips for protecting their vision, and recognizing the warning signs of common eye conditions. Doctors from LRBT's Tertiary Eye Hospital in Korangi led informative sessions, while students from the LRBT School of Ophthalmic Para-medicine helped present a tableau illustrating the role of nutrition and good reading habits in maintaining eye health.

The LRBT team used engaging presentations and visual aids to demonstrate proper eye care techniques and shared inspiring stories of children whose vision was restored through timely medical intervention, highlighting the transformative impact of healthy vision.

Students also participated in creative activities, such as designing their own glasses and engaging in crossword puzzles and word searches. These fun activities reinforced the theme "Love Your Eyes" and helped spread awareness about the importance of eye health.

World Sight Day is a global initiative led by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), encouraging everyone to "Love Your Eyes" by prioritizing accessible eye care. As the largest provider of eye care in Pakistan, LRBT is committed to combating curable blindness by offering free, accessible, and state-of-the-art treatment. Through this campaign, LRBT aims to enhance awareness about children's eye health, ensuring that all children, particularly those from underserved communities, receive the sight-saving care they need to thrive.
