RAWALPINDI: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rawalpindi has declared a dengue emergency in the district.
According to the DC, the areas most affected by the outbreak include Chak Jalaluddin, Kotha Kalan, and Potohar Town. Emergency safety measures are being implemented as part of the dengue response.
An anti-dengue campaign is currently underway in the impacted areas, supported by the formation of mobile teams dedicated to eradicating the disease. The DC noted that the dengue-2 virus has been identified in Rawalpindi, which poses a greater health risk.
Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner has requested essential support from the health department to help control the situation.
In the last 24 hours, out of 143 reported dengue cases in Punjab, 131 were recorded in Rawalpindi alone.
