KARACHI: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) is gravely concerned about an outbreak of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in Sindh and Punjab cattle.
According to Dr S.M Qaisar Sajjad, Hon. Secretary-General, Pakistan Medical Association (Centre), Sindh has the highest transmission rate, with over 20,000 animals affected so far, including 15,100 in Karachi. According to estimates, 54 animals have perished in the province as a result of the viral sickness, while 4,751 have recovered.
PMA welcomes the government's attention to the situation. They recommend that the government quickly begin a vaccination effort to combat the LSD spread and protect the province's animals. Additionally, the government should conduct a public awareness campaign to educate cattle ranchers about the importance of taking preventative measures to preserve their animals.
The PMA advises the public to avoid dairy products such as milk and meat from cattle due to the presence of the disease LSD in animals.
As a precaution against LSD, experts recommend that people consume vegetables, pulses, poultry products, and fish these days. Additionally, they propose that people avoid eating out and refrain from serving beef at any celebrations or parties.
