Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) recently invited an urgent meeting to highlight and condemn the attempted murder and attack on the Duty Doctor at Civil Hospital Dr. Sarwar. While serving the patients during his duty hours, Dr. Sarwar was suddenly attacked ferociously by a Paramedical staff member, who even attempted to kill the Duty Doctor in their rage.
The PMA office bearers have severely condemned the murder attempt and urged the law enforcers to immediately apprehend and punish the culprit who threatened the life of Dr. Sarwar.
The PMA meeting expressed their angst and serious concern over the matter, which reflects the growing intolerance and violent attitudes in our society. The well educated segments including the doctors community are being threatened, targeted, harmed and even killed very regularly. The PMA members urged the government to take notice of this dire situation, and take all necessary measures to curb such violent acts and punish the perpetrators of such crimes.
The PMA meeting held on 8th of July, was presided by Prof. Idrees Adhi – President of PMA Karachi. Other prominent participants, members and office bearers included: Dr. Qazi Wasiq, Dr. Mirza Ali Azhar, Dr. SM Qaisar Sajjad, Dr. Naseer Baloch, Dr. Sirajuddaulah, Dr Shoaib Sobani, Dr. Ahmed Bhemani, Dr Hamid Manzoor, Dr Khalil Muqaddam, Dr Usman Ghani, Dr Najam Feroz Mehmoodi, Dr Jay Paal and other senior members.
