ISLAMABAD: Prof Dr M Iqbal Choudhary, the Coordinator General of COMSTECH, proposed the establishment of a collaborative platform -- the Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Health Forum –during a meeting with Dr Qalander Ibaad, the Minister for the Ministry of Public Health, Afghanistan.

The proposal was floated in the meeting held at the COMSTECH Secretariat in Islamabad.

The primary objective of the proposed platform is to bring together experts from the Ministry of Public Health, Kabul, and COMSTECH. The forum will focus its efforts on collaborative training and capacity building for healthcare professionals operating at the primary health level.

Regarding the initiative, Prof Choudhary said, "We believe that through synergy and the exchange of expertise, we can significantly enhance the healthcare landscape in Pakistan and Afghanistan." He emphasised the potential of collective efforts to uplift the region's healthcare standard.

Dr Ibaad expressed his appreciation for the collaborative spirit, highlighting the shared commitment to progress in healthcare. "Together, we can overcome challenges and work towards a healthier and more resilient society. This collaborative effort is a testament to our dedication to the well-being of our citizens," he remarked during the meeting.

Senior officials from both sides were present at the meeting, underscoring the importance of this collaborative initiative for advancing healthcare in the region.
