KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has issued a ban on the results of the Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), preventing the release of the merit list amid allegations of irregularities in the exam.
During a recent hearing, the court ordered a stay on the results and halted the publication of the merit list. In response to the allegations, the health secretary and chief secretary proposed the formation of a committee to investigate.
The court specified that the committee should include Dr. Shereen Narejo, CMIT; the Director of Cybercrime at FIA Karachi; and Mureed Ali Rahman, former secretary of the board, to examine both criminal and civil charges related to the MDCAT. The committee is required to complete its investigation within 15 days and may seek assistance from any relevant institutions.
Furthermore, the court stated that the committee has the authority to request records from the universities and the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) regarding the exam, as well as to gather objections from applicants, if any. The publication of the merit list is restrained, and no institution is permitted to initiate the admission process until further notice.
