Four human corneas handed over to Spencer Eye Hospital

KARACHI: The Lions Club of Pakistan has donated four human corneas to the Spencer Eye Hospital’s management in a ceremony held at the hospital.

A delegation of the Lions Club of Pakistan led by Abubakar Karim and Arshad Islam handed over the human corneas to the Provincial Minister for Local Government, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, and Medical Superintendent, Spencer Eye Hospital, Dr Birbal Genani.

The corneal transplant surgeries are likely to be performed at the Spencer Eye Hospital, and four blind people are expected to be given a new life after they undergo corneal transplants.

Provincial Minister, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, paid a visit to the different wards of the hospital and enquired about the problems being faced by the visiting patients and the hospital’s administration in catering to patients.

MS, Spencer Eye Hospital, Dr Birbal Genani, has requested special funds for the hospital for the provision of treatment facilities and the maintenance of the hospital building. He apprised the problems being faced by the administration to run the hospital.

The Provincial Minister assured the hospital’s administration that special funds would be released for one of the oldest eye care hospitals through proper a channel, and all genuine issues would be resolved on a priority basis.
