SHCC launches awareness drive to prevent dengue in Sindh

KARACHI: A team of the Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) and the Prevention and Control Program for Dengue (PCPD) in Sindh recently conducted a meeting to discuss the prevention and control measures for dengue

The SHCC and PCPD Sindh conducted a meeting at the SHCC Head Office. CEO, SHCC, Dr Minhaj Qidwai, Program Manager, PCPD, Dr Mehmood Iqbal Memon, Additional Program Manager, PCPD, Dr Abdul Waheed Shaikh, and Deputy Medical Superintendent, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Dr Anwar Suhail Qureshi, attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed various strategies that can be used to control dengue in Karachi and Sindh. In this regard, the SHCC will start an awareness campaign for the prevention of dengue, and compliance letters will be issued to the concerned authorities.

The Directorate of Clinical Governance and Training conducted a meeting discussing laboratory standards as well. The meeting addressed the document for Provincial Laboratory Policy, and it was decided that a transparent system of procurement shall be followed, taking both quality and price into consideration. Moreover, training in supply management shall be promoted at all tiers of the laboratory network to ensure steady supplies.

The Directorate of Anti-Quackery sealed 68 more healthcare establishments (HCEs) in recent days taking the total number of HCEs sealed to date to 2653. Warnings were issued to 37 health facilities recently. Notifications issued to HCEs' for non-compliance to date are 711.

The Directorate of Complaint has received 103 complaints out of which 80 complaints have been disposed of, 17 complaints are under process, while six have been sub-judice.

The Directorate of Licensing and Accreditation received 51 new applications for registration. The total number of applications received for registration reached 9657.

Certificates were issued to 50 HCEs' lately, bringing the total number of registration certificates issued to 8642 HCEs’.
