CHK doctors boycott duties at emergency dept

KARACHI- Voicing anger over harassment of their colleagues, allegedly by relatives of some patients the other day, doctors of Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) boycotted duties at the hospital’s emergency department for about an hour.

They also staged demonstration and criticized the authorities concerned for not taking foolproof measures for protecting doctors from the acts of vandalism. They were demanding immediate arrest of the culprits involved in harassing doctors at the hospital’s premises. 

The protesting doctors told newsmen that although incidents of harassment of doctors have become a matter of routine in public sector health facilities, the authorities concerned have miserably failed to provide protection to health practitioners at their work places.

The protesting doctors, however, ended the boycott and resumed their duties after an hour.
