ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has clarified that there is no consensus to enhance the seats for MBBS and BDS programmes by 20 percent.
According to a spokesperson, the PMDC has not received any formal request from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, nor has it approved an increase in seats.
Elaborating on the matter, the spokesperson says that provincial and territorial authorities can expand seats after obtaining proper approval from the PMDC.
However, he says that the PMDC, a national regulatory body, has not independently endorsed any province's announcement to increase the number of seats for MBBS and BDS programmes.
