KARACHI- Fire broke out in Gynecology Ward of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on Saturday partially suspended water supply and damage cables of major equipments in hospital.
According to an official of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, fire in the hospital’s 4th floor erupted because of a short circuit spreading panic among patients and their attendants.
The rescue teams and fire tenders at the location rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control after in about half hour hectic effort. No casualty was reported in the incident. The rescue workers evacuated the hospital wards from the patients.
Dr Salma Kausar, Senior Director Health & Medical Services, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, said fire broke out in hospital due to short-circuit but no casualty was reported as the fire tender reached on spot on time and extinguished it.
She said fiberglass water tanks were burnt in incident, as also cables of CT scan MRI machine and other important equipment also got damaged. She said water supply was partially suspended.
