So, for a country that is celebrating its 45 years marking the unification of its seven emirates and the founding of the country, it gives me great pride to acknowledge that Dubai Health Authority today runs the region’s largest fully integrated Emergency Department across Emirates.”
His Excellency further commented in his inauguration speech that Dubai Health Authority is pushing and advocating its 2016-2021 strategy to have the highest priority in creating a healthy standard of living in Dubai that is consistent with the standards of modern lifestyle living in the city. There is a rising awareness on the importance of proper Emergency Medical Services and the goal is to give the community members the confidence in providing medically-approved and accepted health care attention and services whenever they may unexpectedly find themselves in a crisis.
Following the opening ceremony, His Excellency Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami toured the exhibition area, where he was introduced to the companies showcasing the latest advancement in the emergency medical services. His Excellency was delighted by hearing from the exhibitors about the latest simulation machines, training cadavers and equipment used to help healthcare professionals to attain the required emergency skills.
Dr. Saleh Fares, President, Emirates Society of Emergency Medicine (ESEM) and Chair of Conference said: “ESEM has helped reshape the UAE’s perspective of Emergency medicine as a whole. We as a society have worked closely to tighten training and clinical practice protocols and have successfully advocated broader recognition and support for emergency medicine from both the people and the government of United Arab Emirates. Scientific activities like ESEM conference and others have helped in improved clinical outcomes and our collaborative efforts are seen in terms of decreased mortality and morbidity in many emergency diseases, such as trauma, acute coronary syndrome and others.”
