LAHORE: A few months after his wage package was restructured in response to his request at the time of his appointment, Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority (P-HOTA) Director General (DG) Prof Asad Aslam Khan requested that the province government decrease his remuneration by 50%.

The Punjab Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department, P-HOTA DG Prof Asad Khan, decided to write: "I was appointed as Administrator/DG P-HOTA in December 2021 and [have been] getting a monthly salary package of Rs1 million since then.

His wage package included a government-issued automobile, free gas, and the services of an official chauffeur.

He added that his office was open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. five days a week (Monday to Friday).

Since he was promoted to DG, he claimed that he had previously completed all of his official duties in three to four hours every day.

Because his pay was paid for using public funds, Prof Aslam asked the Punjab health secretary to reevaluate it for the sake of Pakistan. DG P-HOTA Prof Aslam proposed that his remuneration be decreased from Rs1m to Rs0.5m.

According to a government official, his predecessor received a salary of Rs1.3 million and other benefits from the government.

Prof. Aslam had already voiced his displeasure with the wage package when he was hired in December 2021.

According to the official, the health department cut the cost to Rs1 million at his request.
