Karachi: Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan has said that all-out efforts were being made to improve functioning of all public sector hospitals.
“Following restoration of law and order situation in Karachi, efforts are now under way to ensure 100 per cent utilization of resources so that ailing community could be provided best possible treatment facilities at government hospitals,” he added.
He was speaking to media persons during his visit to Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases (KIHD) and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH). Commissioner Karachi Syed Asif Hyder Shah, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s municipal commissioner Samiuddin Siddiqui and senior director (Medical Services) Dr. Salma Kausar were present on the occasion.
The governor informed the newsmen that he has directed Brig. Ashfaq to prepare a working paper, highlighting the problems being faced by both the KIHD and ASH so that measures could be taken at the earliest to overcome them.
He was of the view that negligence and non-provision of funds were the root cause of declining health facilities at both the hospitals.
Referring to his directives given during his last visit to the ASH, the governor said that signs of improvement were now visible at the health facility.
Dr Ebad on this occasion directed the authorities concerned to immediately set up Sui gas plant at the KIHD.
During his visit to the ASH, the governor said this was a very important health care institution of Karachi and as such, it should be given priority by all concerned departments.
He also emphasized to need for ensuring cleanliness in and around the health facility.
