ISLAMABAD: Leader of the House in Senate and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, has announced that Palestinian medical students will be able to complete their medical education in Pakistan, with the financial support pledged by some UK-based humanitarian groups.
During a session in the Upper House, Dar revealed that the UK-based groups had approached him for assistance on behalf of final-year Palestinian medical students, following the severe infrastructure damage in Gaza.
In response to these requests, Dar wrote to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to explore the feasibility of accommodating these students. The PMDC has agreed to facilitate all Palestinian medical students, allowing them to finish their education in Pakistani medical colleges.
"This is a very humble contribution from Pakistan," said Senator Ishaq Dar, underscoring Pakistan's firm stance on Gaza and highlighting its efforts at international forums.
He mentioned that Pakistan has raised the issue of Gaza at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Gambia and the D-8 meeting in Istanbul, advocating for an end to Israel's atrocities.
Dar also mentioned Pakistan's consistent support for the free flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza, having dispatched nine consignments for relief efforts. He also called for proceedings against Israel's war crimes in the International Court of Justice and demanded an end to the genocide of innocent Palestinians.
Prime Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif recently reiterated Pakistan's support for Gaza during his visit to Astana, where he unequivocally condemned Israel's war crimes.
