KARACHI: The Medical & Health Services Department of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has declared a high alert in all hospitals/medical institutions run by the KMC due to heavy rains.
All heads of institutions are directed to make the necessary arrangement, prepare duty rosters, and ensure the staff's presence on duty as per their duty roster. All kinds of leaves are hereby cancelled immediately, and no leave will be considered during the rain emergency. The focal persons should ensure staff attendance and ensure foolproof arrangements to deal with the emergency.
Furthermore, it must be noted that during the monsoon season, there is also a danger of an increase in the number of cases of typhoid, dysentery, diarrhoea, malaria, and infectious diseases. There is also a post-monsoon threat for dengue, naegleria, Chikungunya, and other infections. All should prepare a foolproof plan and be prepared for treatment.
Sources also warned about the Congo fever or Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) due to the possibility of the animal to human transmission of the virus given the arrival of Eid ul Azha. The focal persons should take the appropriate measures to ensure the protection of citizens.
Strict compliance should be ensured as serious action will be taken against defaulters as per E&D rules.
