SSUET and Saman e Shifa Foundation signs MoU

KARACHI: Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Saman e Shifa Foundation (SSF) and Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) to integrate and make a collaboration link between industry and academia for an international standard (medical devices and equipment) products globally accepted by medical industry or commercial market.

Engr Cdre (R) Syed Sarfraz Ali, Registrar, SSUET, and Prof Dr Shahid Noor, Chairman, Saman e Shifa Foundation, signed the agreement in the presence of Jawaid Anwar, Chancellor, SSUET, and Prof Dr Vali Uddin, Vice-Chancellor, SSUET.

The purpose of the MoU was to design, develop and manufacture products through research and development (R&D), indigenisation, TOT and reverse engineering projects. The products would be developed and manufactured by combined efforts of the university, faculty and students to have a strong, sustainable industrial base in Pakistan to export all types of biomedical devices.

SSUET would be responsible for completing the projects up to the R&D level. SSUET would support SSF for coordination, facilitation, collaboration and ensuring proper availability of resources and knowledge.

SSF would act as a facilitator to make links between industry and the independent university researchers, public, and private organisations for combined projects, utilise machines, test equipment, and resources (human & other) for international biomedical products.
