KARACHI: The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) officials have been served a notice by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) regarding an investigation into a corruption case involving Rs 4 billion.
The NICVD officials have been asked by NAB to present relevant records and appear before the bureau for an inquiry into the allegations including embezzlement of funds, illegal recruitment, and misuse of salaries.
The NICVD administration has already submitted a letter to the NAB and is fully cooperating with the investigation.
A spokesperson for the NICVD says that the institution is committed to maintaining transparency and has activated its internal audit mechanisms to prevent future incidents.
He adds that a committee has also been established to investigate the theft of medicines at the institute.
