Alkhidmat Foundation, PIMA to host MedCon 2024

LAHORE: The Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, in collaboration with the Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA), are hosting "MedCon 2024" from September 7, at the Expo Centre in Lahore to help address the challenges facing the country’s healthcare system, present strategic solutions, and recognise top-performing medical students from across Punjab.
At a press conference held at Alkhidmat Foundation's central office, the organisers shed light on the event's agenda. The speakers included Prof Dr Muhammad Zahid Latif, Chairman of Alkhidmat Foundation Health Services, CEO Sufyan Ahmed Khan, Secretary General of Alkhidmat Foundation Lahore Region Prof Dr Ijaz Nazeer, and Senior Manager of Media Relations Shoaib Hashmi.
Prof Latif said MedCon 2024 will feature sessions with known experts discussing various facets of the healthcare system. 
Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Hafiz Naeem-Ur-Rehman, is expected to address the existing challenges within the healthcare sector, alongside the need for fostering a supportive environment for the country’s youth.
Key sessions will also explore topics such as digital healthcare and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. 
Foundation President Prof Dr Hafiz Rahman will discuss the Gaza situation, the roles of both Alkhidmat and PIMA, and their future initiatives to address this crisis.
The event will bring together vice-chancellors from universities across Punjab, members of the medical faculty, and over 1,000 students. Top-performing medical students will be honoured with medals, awards, and certificates of appreciation.
In addition, prominent healthcare professionals will deliver lectures on professional skills, medical ethics, and healthcare guidelines. 
A World Health Organisation (WHO) delegation is also expected to attend.
Prof Latif said the overarching aim of MedCon 2024 is to inspire hope in the next generation of healthcare professionals.
