KARACHI: In partnership with the Turkish Red Crescent, Kuwait Red Crescent, and Qatar Red Crescent, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) supplied relief supplies to flood victims in the Dadu, Sujawal, and Mirpurkhas districts of Sindh province.
Non-Food Items (NFIs) and rations were supplied by the Pakistan Red Crescent and the Turkish Red Crescent to flood-affected residents in Sujawal.
In addition, the PRCS, in conjunction with the Qatar Red Crescent, delivered tents, hygiene kits, and blankets to Mirpurkhas. Similarly, the Pakistan Red Crescent, with the assistance of the Kuwait Red Crescent, issued a Standard Non-Food Items Kit consisting of a tent, hygiene kit, cooking set, seven blankets, two tarpaulin sheets, four mosquito nets, and two jerry cans to each internally displaced family in Dadu.
Over time, more relief products and humanitarian materials will be delivered. The victims of the flood praised the Pakistan Red Crescent and its movement partners for their efforts and expressed their hope that this will continue in their region.
Turkey and Qatar Red Crescent delegations also visited the free medical camp established by Pakistan Red Crescent-Sindh for flood victims at Sajawal, where over 700 patients, including men, women, and children, were treated and provided with free medicines. In addition, the Kuwait Red Crescent group visited the Pakistan Red Crescent's water purification plant in Juhi, Dadu, where clean drinking water is provided to flood victims.
According to Yusuf Al-Meraj, Director of Disaster Management and Emergency Unit, the Kuwait Red Crescent would offer Pakistan Red Crescent food, non-food items, and medications for flood-affected districts in Sindh, Balochistan, and Punjab provinces.
Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari, the recently appointed Chairman of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society National Headquarters, lauded the contributions of the Turkish, Qatari, and Kuwaiti Red Crescent Societies in easing the suffering of the most vulnerable victims of Pakistan's terrible floods.
Shahid Laghari emphasised that the Pakistan Red Crescent will continue to visit all flood-prone regions of Pakistan to aid those impacted by flooding.
Samar Ali Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Red Crescent-Sindh, stated in a statement that PRCS-Sindh has already dispatched thousands of relief items, such as tents, mosquito nets, stoves, kitchen sets, jerry cans, tarpaulin sheets, hurricane lamps, shelter tool kits, blankets, jackets, water filters, shawls, buckets, hygiene kits for children and women, etc., to Red Crescent District Branches in Thatta.
As a result of the catastrophic monsoon rains and floods in various parts of Sindh, the majority of relief supplies have been instantly provided to flood-affected individuals in all eight districts.
He stated that the PRC-Sindh would soon establish mobile health units, build additional water purification facilities, and provide cash handouts for food to flood-affected people.
The Chairman of the PRC-Sindh requested everyone to contribute drugs since thousands of people in each region are falling ill, and doctors cannot cure them without the appropriate medications. Donate to the Pakistan Red Crescent to acquire medications if anyone cannot purchase them owing to a lack of knowledge.
