Punjab govt caps dengue test fee at Rs. 90

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has set the fee for dengue tests at Rs. 90 to ensure accessible healthcare services for the public. Strict action will be taken against laboratories that overcharge.

This was stated by the focal person on Dengue, MNA Tahira Aurangzeb, during her visit to the dengue wards at Holy Family Hospital (HFH) on Saturday. She was accompanied by parliamentarians Malik Abrar and Parliamentary Secretary for Information, Shazia Rizwan.

Tahira Aurangzeb emphasized the need for collective efforts to tackle the ongoing dengue situation. She instructed relevant departments to display panaflex signs and banners outside laboratories, clearly indicating the official dengue test charges.

During the visit, Tahira Aurangzeb interacted with dengue patients to inquire about the treatment being provided. The patients expressed satisfaction with the services and thanked Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for the healthcare facilities.

The Medical Superintendent of HFH informed the visiting officials that 70% of the dengue patients being treated at the hospital were from the Rawalpindi district, while 30% were from other areas.

The parliamentarians later visited various laboratories in the city, including Al-Khidmat Razi Lab, City Lab, and Ibn-e-Sina Lab, to ensure compliance with the government’s pricing directive.
