Dengue rise across Punjab, 141 new cases reported

LAHORE: As many as 141 new dengue cases were detected across Punjab in the past 24 hours, according to health officials. Rawalpindi remains the hardest hit, accounting for 129 of the new cases. Lahore, Jehlum, and Mianwali each reported three cases, while single cases were identified in Attock, Bahawalpur, and Sahiwal. This brings the total number of reported dengue cases in the province to 2,389 for the year 2024.

A spokesperson for the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department reassured the public that all necessary measures are in place to manage the outbreak. Government hospitals are fully stocked with medicines and treatments for dengue patients.

The Health Department has issued an advisory urging the public to maintain clean and dry surroundings to prevent mosquito breeding and control the spread of the virus. Public cooperation is critical as health teams work actively across the province to contain the situation.
