New York: Northwell Health, one of the biggest healthcare provider's in the USA, decided to terminate 1,400 employees that refused to get vaccinated for COVID-19.
Northwell isn't the only company to do so, however. Both CNN and United Airlines had also cut loose unvaccinated employees. But it is one of the most significant numbers, as the fired employees made up a considerable part of Northwell's workforce which amounted to 76,00 employees.
As the vaccine mandate rocks the US state of New York, home of Northwell, it shows alarming trends among employees that choose unemployment over a vaccine shot. Northwell stood by their word. The company's mandate preceded the state requirement for all personnel.
"Our goal was not to terminate employees. Our goal was to get people vaccinated.", said Joe Kemp, Assistant Vice President, Public Relations at Northwell.
"Northwell regrets losing any employees under such circumstances. We owe it to our staff, our patients and the communities we serve to be 100 per cent vaccinated against COVID-19.", said the company in a statement recently.
