Karachi: In a ceremony organized by Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) honoured former and retired principals of Dow Medical College, keeping up with its tradition to honour its retired professors and principal since the inception of the University. The main aim of honouring teachers is to show due respect and regards and also to inspire younger generation to respect their teachers for their own benefit and success in life.
During the tenure, Prof Masood Hameed Khan, Founding Vice Chancellor, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) honoured all retired professors and former principal of DMC and DIMC in several functions held from time to time to pay tribute to the teachers and acknowledge their services.
Governor Sindh DrIshratUlEbad Khan in his address said that Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) has become a renowned and distinguished brand name, which has reached every nook and corner of the world. For a common man the success of DUHS may be surprising or like a fairytale but for him it is not.
The whole team under Prof. Masood Hameed worked tirelessly to turn this dream into reality. Talking about the ceremony, he said that honouring and recognizing of retired principal is very important asset. He further said that it is happy to know that Dow University of Health Sciences performed first successful liver transplant surgery performed at Ojha Campus.
Prof Masood Hameed Khan in his address acknowledged the efforts of its faculty members and paid rich tribute to the HoDs and Professors in bringing change in medical education of the country. Paying rich tribute to his teachers, he stressed the juniors students to give due respect and regards to the teachers because teachers are the sources of inspirations.
He said that teachers always try to inspire younger generation to achieve best possible talent.
Later on, Governor Sindh DrIshratUlEbad Khan and Prof MasoodHameed Khan honouring retired principals dedicated different lecture halls, libraries with the names retired principals including Dr Kewalram Tarasingh Ramchandani, Lt Col Aziz K M Khan, Lt Col Sher Muhammad Khan Mallick, Prof Mahmud Ali Shah, Prof Abdul Wahid, Prof Mrs Zubaida Aziz, Prof M M Hassan, Prof A M Ansari, Prof ShamsuddinRahimtoola, Prof Muhammad Sharif Chaudhry, Prof M A Almani, Prof S Shakir Ali Jaffery, Prof Malik Ali Shaikh, Prof Abdul Majeed Memon, Prof Tahira Ahmed, Prof Muhammad Shafi Quraishy, Prof Illahi Baksh M Soomro, Prof S. Tipu Sultan, Prof Masood Hameed Khan and Prof. SalahuddinAfsar.
Earlier, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan visited Ojha Campus and inquired about the liver transplant surgery performed by DUHS.
