Aga Khan Hospital introduces cardiology services in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, January 29, 2014: Expanding its range of services to patients in interior Sindh, the Aga Khan University Hospital has introduced specialist cardiology services in Hyderabad.
Cardiac clinics by cardiologists from AKUH, Karachi will be available at the Aga Khan Maternal and Child Care Centre. Diagnostic services will also be offered, giving patients easy access to echocardiography (echo), exercise tolerance test (ETT), electrocardiogram (ECG) and holter monitoring facilities.
Later in the year, a telehealth clinic will be introduced, where cardiologists from AKUH, Karachi, will also be available for consultation via the latest telecommunications technologies.
“By introducing cardiology services at AKMCCC, we will help reduce the need and cost of cardiac patients traveling to Karachi for specialist tests and diagnosis, providing services at their ‘doorstep’ in Hyderabad” said Dr Khawar Kazmi, Consultant Cardiologist and Head of Cardiology, AKUH while addressing guests at the inaugural ceremony. However, patients who require invasive procedures including coronary angiography and angioplasty will still have be referred to AKUH, Karachi.
Other speakers from the University Hospital included Nadeem Mustafa Khan, Regional CEO, Health Services, Asia; Muhammad Habib Khan, Head, Secondary Care Hospitals; and Akbar Jamal Rajani, Administrator, Hospital Services.
