KARACHI- Sindh Health Department has failed to regularize the employees working for Sindh AIDS Control Program (SACP) on contract basis for the past 10 to 20 years.

Around 27 contract employees associated with SACP, including lab technicians, store keepers, computer operators, domestic staff and counselors, still await regularization from the concerned authorities. The deserving employees never received any kind of promotion, raise or pension due to their employment status.

Some of the employees disclosed that they had been working for the Program since 1995 without being regularized, which explains a lot regarding the negligence of Sindh Government and Health Department.

Various other programs run by the Government of Sindh have been regularized, such as the workers of Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), Lady Health Workers Program, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) Sindh and many other vertical health programs.

Addressing the staff of SACP, the authorities of Sindh Health Department displayed penitence, and assured the staff regarding the implementation of regularization process.

Sindh AIDS Control Program’s Provincial Program Manager, Dr Younis Chachar was not available to comment on this long due matter.
