HYDERABAD: The Isra University Bachao Committee (IUBC) of Isra University Welfare Hospital accused the Kazi Brothers of dominating the university’s authoritative staff and modifying the hospital into a private enterprise by operating it on their own terms.
It was revealed by the officers of IUBC including the convener Ashraf Noonari, Shahid Ahmed Khoso, Dr Lala Qurban, Muhammad Ali Khushk, Wahid Bux Sangrasi, Sardar Ayaz Memon and Abdul Aziz Phul that, the institute was established in 1986 with a charitable trust to run the hospital, and is now charging the patients a hefty fee.
The Kazi Brothers have founded Tibra College Al-Tibri Medical College and Hospital in Karachi, and Al Nafees Medical College in Islamabad, with an affiliation of Isra University Hospital. They also established an engineering college in Tando Adam Khan and Isra Higher Secondary School in Qasimabad. They have also constructed Isra Housing Scheme in Kandiaro, Sindh.
IUBC claimed that the current management of Isra University Hospital has violated rules and regulations of PMDC, by charging a huge amount of admission fee from the students. They further mentioned that, PMDC did not agree to any quota system of self-financing at Isra University Hospital; however the management has still given admissions to students on self finance, by charging them Rs 1.8 million. Even though they are making a huge amount of money, still the helping staff and other employees get paid less than what they deserve.
The IUBC reached out to the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Director of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to investigate these ongoing malpractices under the banner of Kazi brothers, and the committee has requested the authorities to take serious action against them.
