LNH pre-symposium workshops 2025 focus on Orthopedic innovations

KARACHI: In preparation for the 8th Liaquat National Hospital (LNH) Symposium, scheduled from January 10 to 12, 2025, the Department of Orthopedic Surgery organized a series of six pre-symposium workshops, delivering cutting-edge training for orthopedic professionals. These workshops provided hands-on experience, live surgeries, cadaveric training, and interactive lectures.

The workshops addressed vital topics in modern orthopedic practice, including non-operative and operative management of fractures, pelvic osteotomy for pediatrics, sports injuries, and advanced techniques for revision knee and hip arthroplasty. Designed for residents, postgraduate students, fellows, senior registrars, and medical students, the sessions focused on improving clinical outcomes and patient care, making high-quality training accessible to a wide audience.

The workshops covered the following topics:

  1. Non-Operative Management of Fractures
  2. Operative Management of Fractures
  3. Pediatric Pelvic Osteotomy
  4. Sports Injury Management
  5. Revision Knee Arthroplasty (Live & Cadaveric)
  6. Revision Hip Arthroplasty

Workshops were facilitated by renowned orthopedic surgeons, distinguished faculty from Liaquat National Hospital and Medical College, and internationally acclaimed sports personalities (for the Sports Injury workshop). Esteemed experts included Dr. Muhammad Shoaib, Dr. H. Kamran Rathore, Dr. Asif Peracha, Dr. Nasir Ahmed, Dr. Asif Qureshi, Dr. Imran Ahmad, Dr. Faisal Hameed, Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Dr. Muhammad Sohail, Tausif Ahmed, Sadiq Muhammad, Prof. Ghulam Mehboob, Prof Zaki Idris, Prof Anis Bhatti, prof Badruddin, prof Sohail Hafiz, Prof Sohail Amin, and other prominent senior surgeons.

Dr. Muhammad Kazim Rahim, Associate Professor at LNH’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery, told Medical News that the workshops aimed to strengthen participants' surgical expertise. "The cadaveric and live surgical sessions, particularly in revision arthroplasty, offered immersive, hands-on experience to better manage surgical complexities," he remarked.
