KARACHI - Operation Theater at Sindh Government Lyari General Hospital, Karachi was not functioning since three days, compiled administration to postpone schedule surgeries.
Sources at Lyari General Hospital told OT services have been remained suspend in third day due to the unavailability of water. The water pump motor was lying out of order since three days and hospital administration was unable to get it repair so far. The shortage of water has compiled management to postpone emergency and schedule surgeries.
The women, children and elderly people requiring urgent surgeries are being turned away by the Lyari General Hospital (LGH) because the operation theatre suspended services since three days owing to shortage of water. The score of schedule surgeries were suspended in last three days while hospital administration has failed to make alternate arrangements of water to resume OT services despite lapse of three days.
Medical Superintendent, Lyari General Hospital, Dr Muhammad Aslam Pechucho, said OT services was remained suspend in health facility in last couple days due to unavailability of water as water pump motor was developed fault owing to short-circuit. He said unavailability of water has compiled administration to postpone schedule operations.
He said installation of two new water pump motors are underway and hoped situation would be improved in a day. He further informed that all gynaecological, obstetrical and emergency labour services were remained functional while only elective operation theatre services were suspended.
