More Dog Bite Clinics Established in Karachi Soon

KARACHI- Medical & Health Services of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has decided to establish four more Dog Bite Clinics in Karachi city for treatment of dog-bite victims.


The Dog-Bite Clinics would be established in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Leprosy Hospital, Manghopir, Rafique Shaheed Hospital and Landhi Medical Complex to facilitate local people. Free vaccination would be administrated to dog-bites cases at Dog-Bite Clinics while permanent staff would also be deputed in these clinics.


The Dog Bite Clinics are only operating in Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), Civil Hospital and Indus Hospital Karachi.  More than 200 incidents of dog-bite are reported in Karachi on daily basis while city records 20000 dog bite cases every year.


In 2017, a total 22,982 dog bite cases had throughout Karachi in Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) and Indus Hospital, Karachi, respectively.


The majority of dog bite cases were reported from slums areas of Ibrahim Hyderi, Surjani, North Karachi, New Karachi, Baldia, Orangi, Keamari, Mehmoodabad, Liaquatabad, Federal B Area and Golimar. The children and elderly people generally become victims in dog bites.
