Begum Nafees Sardar Yasin Malik Center Opened at DUHS

KARACHI- Speaking at the Inaugural Ceremony of the new building “Begum Nafees Sardar Yasin Malik Center”, National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology, Dow University of Health Sciences, Ojha Campus, the renowned social worker, Sardar Yasin Malik said that, “Diabetes and the number of people suffering from this disease is increasing at a significant rate in Pakistan.


This raised the need to take some protective measures in order to overcome the high prevalence of diabetes and endocrine diseases. National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology, DUHS is one of the institutions that is actively serving the patients suffering from Diabetes and other Endocrine diseases at national level. The expansion of the services of this institution will soon be multiplied and this institute would be benefitting 300 patients on daily basis in the near future.”


The Vice Chancellor of Dow University, Prof Dr M Saeed Quraishy and Director NIDE, Prof Dr Akhtar Ali Balouch also addressed the inaugural ceremony. The event was largely attended by directors of different departments of Dow University. personalities like pro-vice chancellor Prof Dr Khawar Saeed Jamali, Prof. Amanullah Abbasi, Prof Dr Mohammed Masroor, Prof Dr Zarnaz Wahid, Shahbaz Malik, Shahid Malik and other senior faculty members were present at the ceremony.


Sardar Yasin Malik further said that, “The first and the most painful for any diabetic patient is the foot injury that occurs without the person’s knowledge. Such injuries need the most advanced technology machine for screening purposes, which will soon be available to serve the patients of NIDE at DUHS.”


Prof Mohammad Saeed Quraishy, said in his address to the event, “Keeping in view the medical health education and facilitation, Bone Marrow Transplantation Centre along with the OPD of NIDE will soon be operational with the latest technology machines serving approximately 200 patients daily. The plan for a new building for the Bone Marrow Center is under process while the old building will continue to provide its services.”


Sardar Yasin Malik marks the official opening of newly-constructed building “Begum Nafees Sardar Yasin Malik Center”, National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology, Dow University of Health Sciences, Ojha Campus by unveiling the foundation stone plaque and initiating the formal ribbon cutting.
